I have had the book Iman The Beauty of Color: The Ultimate Beauty Guide For Skin of Color by Iman in my wishlist for quite some time before purchasing it. One of the reasons has to do with my own interest to get some makeup ideas. My decision was also influenced after I watched the music video for Remember The Time by Michael Jackson because of the air of self-confidence she radiated in the music video (the same self- confidence vibe that is projected through many of her online/media interviews). This caught my attention because she probably has challenging days just like anybody else. However, the self-confidence she frequently projects through her own interviews reminds me of one of the personal goals I have to aim for higher self-confidence regardless of any life tests I may encounter. Yes, just a few years ago, I tilted towards the happiness aspiration spectrum However, I have ironically been feeling better (even in the midst of unexpected events in my life) since I have instead refocused my aim towards higher self-confidence. Anyhow, this makeup book features women from various skin complexion spectrums (models by the names of Oluchi,Ming, Brenda, and Mariana) and various celebrities (Padma Lakshmi, Kimora Lee Simmons,Liya Kebede, Alicia Keys and many more famous people featured). She also shows different techniques on how to apply eye shadow such as on page 95, plus much more.

One of the BEST make up books I own!

After reading some of the reviews and then reading this book, I have found that some people need to keep their mouths closed! This is an excellent book, and is overflowing with helpful ideas for those just starting out in make up or for those who are looking for some creativity in their make up application. In addition, there were times in the book where Iman's wit and fun personality shined thru to make learning about beauty products and make up application interesting. Not to mention, the colorful step by step photos help beginners figure out exactly how to create a desired look.

I am an African-American and I had NO problem with the ethnic variation in this colorful (no pun intended), well put together book! Please don't listen to the negative * (* won't say it because I am a classy woman) who is complaining about a book that is FILLED with many ethnicities and color varieties! Stop trying to hurt your own people...crabs in a barrel! IMAN HAS CHANGED HOW BEAUTY IS VIEWED WORLDWIDE AND SHE IS STILL A GORGEOUS WOMAN OF COLOR!

Thanks to Jax Books I have a hard copy collectible (purchased for $8.99) to one day pass along to my daughter....

Twills N' More!

I picked this book up because I was new to tri-loom weaving and couldn't find ANYTHING on the subject that was user friendly. This is my "go to" book. It has excellent illustrations, I love the close up pics of the different twills and the designer sections make you think outside the box. This book has basic information for a refesher course and indepth info for more advanced projects.

Should be titled Rectangle Loom Weaving!

I purchased this book to help me learn more intricate weave patterns for my TRIANGLE loom......altho there are eleven patterns pictured with instructions and drawdown, ALL the finished items are made on a rectangular loom! Why didn't the author show any pieces finished on a triangle loom? Makes one wonder whether she ever made a piece on a triangle loom! Photos of a triangle loom piece in progress and completed would be very helpful. After all, the title is TRIANGLE loom weaving, not rectangle loom weaving! I gave it three stars only because the instructions and drawdowns do include triangle loom details.....

I was truly disappointed in this book. I bought it so that I could understand Ayurveda, but this writter discounts the true principles. He refers to Vata, Pita and Kapha as Body Types A,B and C. I think he should call it by the proper names and not try to take shortcuts. It is not a well written book on the subject. If you are interested in Ayurveda, I highly recommend Deepak Chopra's "Perfect Health". Not only does Chopra cover the topic completely, his book is inspiring. Perfect Balance is unrealistic. It recommends that people take teaspoons of spices and herbs daily. While the true way of following Ayurveda is to cook with the spices and herbs in the food. I do not recommend this book. It has some helpful information, but not enough. Why read more then one book on the subject? Deepak Chopra's book covers it all and he also has a website that offers Ayurveda products.

A rebellion is right around the corner. Can Lyra help her husband, or is he the one that shouldn't be trusted?

After getting an insight into this couple’s marriage, which joined two planets, in Taming His Queen, we are given more into the life of Lyra and Astor. This book goes into detail on how the two met, the arrangement of their marriage, and their married life. I do should make everything easy, right? Not with these two!
Throughout this read, there are ups and downs in the marriage of the two. These ups and downs aren’t necessarily their own doing, but of course outside forces that have a major impact on the union. A revolution is plotted against Astor’s planet and people, but will sweet Lyra be able to stop if from coming to fruition? Read this book to see all that Lyra went through, with lots of hot lovin’ showing how amazingly compatible the two truly are, and the Domestic Discipline that could eventually help Lyra let go all that is bad in her life if she only allows it. Great read! Can’t wait to read more from this author!

There's so much to love about Casey McKay's first sci-fi spanking romance

There's so much to love about Casey McKay's first sci-fi spanking romance. First of all, the arranged marriage to a strict (but loving) man from another planet where women are corrected with good old-fashioned physical discipline, is delicious! You get to watch the culture class of Lyra, an independent female from Earth, grapple with having a powerful, dominant husband who won't accept all her little rebellious without delivering a firm, bare-bottomed spanking.

The plot flies along, with intrigue from rebel warriors and a time machine that Lyra has been forbidden by her new husband to use. I loved Astor, her empathic husband, who is able to modulate her discipline perfectly because he can read her every mood. Oh, and he's a doctor, so there's a very hot punishment examination (and whipping) scene-- YUM!

Fun characters and lots of heat!

Casey gets you right into the action and keeps the pace fast in this enjoyable read! If you enjoy stories that include domestic discipline style spankings (not too severe) that often tie into sex between the hero and heroine, this is the perfect read! Casey has a fun, light-hearted writing style and includes humor and lively dialogue. I've never been especially into sci-fi romances, but Casey made me rethink the genre! I especially enjoy the mental/mind-reading connection between Lyra and Astor, and how they work through their misunderstanding and mistrust to achieve a deep, satisfying love.
