Too many typos with important points

I just finished my final for the class that this was my textbook.
The typos are so serious. I often found the typos in important formulas and equations as well as numbers in calculation.
Thus, I frequently searched in the website to verify whether I have problem with my understanding or the book made typos.
90% of my question to the prof was caused because of the typos in the book.
Mine is the first printing and some others who has second printing finds less typos, but still a lot.
Moreover, the corrected points corresponded well with some problems in the book, but it made new contraditions with other problems.
As an example, the oil formation volume factor on appendix B graph shows 1.46. But right above it, it is mentioned as 1.5 which is a significant difference.
On the second printings of my friends, it is corrected as 1.46. However, on some problems using this appendix, the problems still solved with 1.5.
I just spent so much time figuring out the errors in this book this semester. Although I was super busy....
I would never recommend this book to anyone else.

No PSS software in E-book

Sadly, E-books does not contain the PSS software to test examples and equations in the extbook.
I cannot find to download the PSS software.

Wait for the corrections

This book is really great and complete, but it has many mistakes on it.

I am actually taking classes with one of its authors and we were told this, so if you are not on a rush, I would wait for some errata or something.

Read This Book

Lisa Genova, the author of Still Alice, has done it again. She has taken a every serious medical issue, combined it with a believable, intelligent main character and created an informative, realistic and hopeful story. I had never heard of Left Neglect until reading this story. Sarah, our main character seems to have everything she wants, a high powered job, a loving husband, three children, a beautiful home and an unending schedule, on which she seems to thrive. Genova describes beautifully, what that life is like. Sarah's life is a whirlwind of "must dos". She revels in the fact that she can do it all, although sometimes her subconscious is telling her otherwise. This life abruptly changes when Sarah is involved in an automobile accident that leaves her with frontal lobe brain damage. While she survives the crash and is physically recovering, her brain no longer recognizes the left side of her body. Genova takes us through Sarah's responses beginning with denial that anything is wrong, through realization of her situation and on to adjustments that alter her life and, in the process bring her a new happiness. A side story of particular interest is her relationship with her mother. We learn that Sarah lost her brother in a drowning accident when they were children and that her mother was never the same after that. Sarah felt abandoned and alone and as she grew and married, she lost touch with her mother in every real sense. Following the accident, her mother comes back into her life, offering help. We can see ourselves in Lisa's characters. We can feel the emotions and the disappointments and we can only hope that we can rise above our challenges, much as Sarah does in this book.

From Someone Who's Been There, Highly Recommended

This book was recommended by my neurologist. I suffer from left neglect due to a recent stroke, but didn't understand it.. The author is a hoot. She can take a subject that's so serious and make it so relatable.

By the middle, I was thanking my lucky stars that I didn't experience anything as severe as the subject of this book did. I didn't read Still Alice, another of this author's novels, but I saw the film. The author is doing a great service by writing about these neurological conditions in such a human way. By the end, I understood left neglect do much better than I have from just reading medical websites, or having therapists who haven't experienced it tell me about it.

No Still Alice, but still thought-provoking.

There is some slowness to the story and some of the plot is fairly obvious, but I do appreciate the happy ending as compared to Still Alice. As well, it is interesting to see how Left Neglect can impact a particular person's life. More importantly, I love any story that emphasizes the need for people to step back from work and multitasking to see what is important in life. I love when people have life-changing experiences that help them to reconsider their lifestyles. Besides these points though, this story is not nearly as good as Genova's Still Alice, despite what the many reviews claim.

Looking at the cover image I first thought that this book would be for advanced carvers only but as I looked through the different projects, with the in-depth directions and step-by-step photos I changed my mind. Although the projects are from simple to complex, even the complex ones are doable by beginners, just by carefully following each step and perhaps, if necessary, simplifying some of the details. Project include traditional characters, humorous designs, craft ideas, and more. How proud I would be to have any of these projects adorning my house for the holidays.

The Handcarved Christmas book (ISBN 978-1-56523-605-9; Fox Chapel Publishing) contains projects and patterns for ornaments, gifts, earrings, several Santas and more. There are also instructions for how to carve intaglio style, adding texture with a woodburner, making an adjustable carving, how to weight a carving and using mass production techniques.

Nice projects for various levels of experience

I am new to carving and I like all the patterns in this book. I am disappointed that they were not more step by step illustrations for more of the items. It will be a while before I can tackle some of these projects as they are quite involved. I like the variety of projects shown but many of them are for a more experienced carver. I hope to get to the point where they will be easier for me to handle.

BESt Christmas Carving book I have ever seen. I had taken this book out from my local library. Renewed it 4 times!! when I couldn't renew it the 5th time knew I just had to buy it. Its the best if you love christmas and carving this is a must have. Oh yes Santa Galore which for me was a huge plus

Amazon does a good job showing you what is in the book. The book has simple patterns for beginners, and complicated patterns for advanced whittlers. There are detailed instructions on how to carve each figure. Great looking Christmas themed figures.

R. Paul Stevens is professor emeritus of marketplace theology and leadership at Regent College, Vancouver, British Columbia, and a marketplace ministry mentor. He has worked as a carpenter and businessman, and served as the pastor of an inner-city church in Montreal. He has written many books and Bible studies, including Doing God's Business, Work Matters, Marriage Spirituality, The Other Six Days and Spiritual Gifts. Good, thought-provoking, insightful

Unlike many study guides that are actually mini-commentaries, this series actually engages readers (and studiers) by asking thoughtful, text-based questions that bring out themes and connections and help users to make realistic applications. I usually use these guides for group studies, but am using this one for a study one-on-one with a friend. I am pleasantly surprised at how well it adapts to this slightly different focus and setting.

This is a great inductive bible study

This is a great inductive bible study. This is about as simple and straight forward as it gets. I'm a huge fan of the lifeguide series. Good, thoughtful questions that lend to good conversation in small groups. If you are using this as an experienced leader, you can use the questions to springboard to deeper questions. Whats great about this series, is that if you group is co-lead, just about anyone can help facilitate the bible study if the leader is out one week.

Fantastic book!

What a great way to learn about Paris. My 2 year old daughter really loved the book. The illustrations are colorful and vibrant and done with so much detail, you really have the feeling you are in Paris. Can't wait for those two girls Oc�ane & Elodie to discover the world. Very cute!

Adorable story of two kids experiencing Paris. The illustrations really take you there and the sisters are like little pros with their checklist of what to do. I'm sure they'll visit some fun places in the world.

Loved it! I've been following Canadian expat mom on Facebook and Pinterest. Love listening to her adventures and insights on her family travels. It's great to see a story for children, too. My favourite part was how the author explained parts of French culture - perfect for kids to learn as they listen/read. Can't wait for the next one!

I do not recommend this as a primary textbook. It is fine to supplement but is very thin on text and detail. The graphics are very good and the reading level is accessible however it does not have the depth of content needed for the subject. I am very disappointed with it.

Brian M. Fagan is one of the world’s leading archaeological writers and an internationally recognized authority on world prehistory. He is Emeritus Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Patricia Furness-Smith is a psychologist and psychotherapist with more than 20 years of experience. She has been a member of the Flying with Confidence team for�more than�10 years and has worked as a flight attendant. Captain Steve Allright is a British Airways training captain on the Boeing 747. A professional pilot since 1990, he has clocked�more than�11,000 flying hours. He has been part of the Flying with Confidence team for 20 years and is now a director of the company.

Great book to know how a plane works

I fly all the time but still get quite nervous when flying. I thought the first part was great to understand how a plane operates and what to expect, especially all the noises the plane makes. It also give me some reassurance on how well the pilots are trained.

As for the second part it was more about your psych and how to calm it down when flying. I was excited to read that part, but after reading it, there wasn't anything that different than how to deal with normal anxiety. I guess I was hoping for some new ways to deal with anxiety of flying, but just didn't find it in that section. Overall, I think it's a good read if you have a fear. I wish they had more classes to take in the US, seems to be a hit in Europe.

Brilliant!

I have always avoided flying, the very thought of it would start my stomach churning and I would break out in a sweat. My partner recently expressed a desire to go on a foreign holiday...turmoil was the only word to describe it. I couldn't sleep, couldn't think straight, I was shaking and upset- before it was even booked! I bought this book but wasn't holding out much hope. I read it in the space of a day, and it helped immensely, I honestly could not believe it. Immediately my nerves were gone and I felt much better about flying. I plan to read the book a few more times before the holiday, but it certainly helped with the panic in the interim! If you're looking at this book in desperation as I was, then you've come this far so just buy it. It's worth it for the extra help with settling the nervousness!

Best book out there on overcoming fear of flying

This book, and the course that goes with it, are really excellent products. Steve and Patricia seem to be at the top of their respective professions (flying and psychology). The course combines a walk through of the management processes (safety checks and balances, training and certification of pilots, upkeep of planes) and the physics of flying, with an explanation of why anxious flyers react the way they do and some techniques for overcoming this. The book allows the user to go into more depth. For anyone whose fear of flying keeps them from traveling, I highly recommend this.
