Still a decent series

Third installment has much less character development, as the first two really took care of that for the most part. This book focused more on the developing war. Jumped around a fair bit between the running plotlines, mostly because all the main characters were split up. It was a necessary choice by the author, but I always find myself slightly annoyed by it.
Three stars for two reasons:
Would have liked to see the young hero grow more...Still waiting for him to become more relevant.
Plotline is dragging out. This series could have been completed by now.
I will read the next book, as I am mostly enjoying the story, and would like to get the conclusion.

Kin of Kings series, nicely done!

Kin of Kings is an engaging read. Once I started, I just wanted to continue.
I lack however, the back story and details which I presume are in the first 5 books of this Bastial Cluster of Erudition. A situation to be amended, to be sure.
Believable characters, good story and interesting treatment of the age old curse of too much power, quickly gained. I expect there will be some little of that in book four. Book four which I am now waiting to read! Recommended.
Oh, and one other item of fascination, the mental manipulation of energies unseen both freestanding and attached to living beings. Our age could take notes! A few thousand truth detectors among us might be much to the point.

Waste of time compared to the rest of the series

Waste of time compared to the rest of the series. They need to just kill Sanya. Reela is just annoying. "Oh you killed two of our friends. No worries I do not think she is happy with her choices. She is free to go. No Cleve, No. How could you want to kill her." All of them are very annoying. It feels like the author is just trying to drag out this series as long as possible as nothing actually happened this book. I also did not enjoy the Krepps.
